Every discovery seems to strengthen the suspicion that Ford is up to something but no one has a clue what that could be.
Yes, there was a bit less action in this second book but I actually enjoyed the detail of the chase. If the FBI is capable of even some of what is portrayed in this book it's a wonder there are any criminals left undiscovered.
Of course reality must be different to the fiction. I really enjoyed this book. Reznick is back and he's teamed up with the FBI once more.
That a bit of an unexpected turn for the character given that he was first introduced as an assassin. Now he's forsaken his full-black operational status to team up with the FBI as a consultant?
The transition isn't logical and it's never appropriately explained over the course of the book.
It almost feels like Reznick is just going with the flow, even if that flow involves terrorists and counterespionage investigations. I'm not entirely Reznick is back and he's teamed up with the FBI once more.
I'm not entirely sure I understand the character's career motivations, but the book makes for a compelling adventure.
Bring on book 3! Mar 18, Kathi Defranc rated it really liked it. The saga of Jon Reznick continues Another great action thriller featuring Jon Reznick , an ex-special forces operative with an uncanny ability to see through the fog of words and figure out the truth.
What seems true at first is found to be fed to them to push them in one direction as the truth moves away. The plot is great, with a fast-paced story that builds suspense until the end.
L The saga of Jon Reznick continues Love the Reznick character, now on to the next book! Aug 14, Carol rated it liked it. I liked 1 much better.
This one has plenty of action, but seems to end in the middle of it. Not a true cliffhanger, but not really over, either. I was just left feeling it was unfinished.
Many unanswered questions. I will not read 3. I need to move on to something that gives me a feeling of completion at the end.
Dec 02, Jen rated it did not like it Shelves: fiction , It was all too distracting and frustrating and annoying and really?
People have given this 5 stars?? It almost makes me want to pinch the bridge of my nose, let out a long sigh, blow my cheeks out and ask: what the goddam fuck were those people reading?!
Great reading. Lots of fun. Lots of Twists. In line with all Vince Flynn lovers. You have a conspiracy, have an agent that no one will believe in him at the beginning.
He is not a superman. Apr 11, Hema Vaidyanathan rated it it was amazing. Very good. Excellent scenes.
Great author. Would like to read all of his books. Would wait for new books. Please keep it up. Jan 28, Tan rated it liked it. Mar 15, claire obrien rated it it was amazing.
What a mid boggle I'm not into reading about terrorism I cannot keep up with it. There where bits in this book that I just couldn't grasp.
However it was easy enough to keep up with the story line and plot. I found it really gripping and fascinating the plot gets seen in the end though.
Feb 14, Walt Mccluskey rated it it was amazing. Hard kill One of the better thriller stories in some time with dedicated people fighting a foe with unique unlimited resources beyond those readily seen in reporting today.
Real time tie-in to the characters and events of today make you nearly convinced it could happen.
Turner's 2nd effort here Bush gos a great disappointment I had great hope for this book after a terrific opener in the Reznick story line but was deeply disappointed by J.
Bush gosh Turner, what do you think about our 57 states or having kids with asthma use "breathalyzers"? A well paced thriller, with a few well depicted murders.
Although I like a bit more on the murder side and less of the investigating, an enjoyable read overall. I was indecisive at first if this was the book for me - the plot appealed to me but found when I started reading it, the beginning didn't really flow.
However, when I became more involved in the story I found it hard to put down. A tense and gripping ending. Jan 13, Rod rated it it was amazing.
Hard Kill Jon Reznick 2 doesn't leave a doubt in my mind that we have another great thriller Writer I picked all of the Authors Books up and have them on my kindle lately I think I have developed a gut feeling for a good read this series does not disappoint i will be starting Hard Wired Next these are real page turners and really well written absolute 5 Stars.
Aug 10, Zain rated it it was amazing. This book was amazing! I love the Jon Reznick Thrillers so much. I have purchased the rest of them.
Oct 06, Niyati Em rated it liked it. This was an interesting book. I mean the writer really did throw in a fair bit of complications that would keep me hooked on to the mystery of who was doing what.
But the main problem with this book was: 1. There's a lack of information about Reznick. I mean I read this one out of the others I had requested and I had no idea about him and his history.
There was very little information about him as a person and what are his thoughts and where he comes from as a person. The action was very very s This was an interesting book.
The action was very very slow burn. It took to almost the very last chapter before there was some element of excitement that happened in the book.
That really annoyed me because there was intrigue but then it wasn't the typical spy thriller. It was too little too late. There's no clear motive behind all of this.
I mean I get the explanations that the writer did put in but then it came in so late and there was no perspective about why the DC surgeon would do what he did.
The explanations there weren't altogether that great. All in all, I would probably read the other books by the author but then this one wasn't one of the better thrillers I have read.
There's no explanation for things moving only towards the end of the book. Even the action at the end wasn't fast paced. I mean when you're involving all the agencies in the US in one book, there has to be some action right?
Another big issue I had with this book is that it covered too many administrative issues. By that, I mean it focussed too much on the bureacracy and meetings.
The threat is big and grave, but at no point did I feel it was a huge enough threat for me to be worried about it. The villain wasn't really clear till the very end and that wasn't very enjoyable.
If the issue or the problem is serious but it isn't somehow depicted to be as serious as it is then that's just a tragedy really.
All in all, not one of the better thrillers I have read on NetGalley. Jun 11, Mike Nemeth rated it it was amazing.
Turner series about ex dark ops agent Jon Reznick and his return to the light. This time, FBI assistant director Martha Meyerstein calls Reznick right before he spends a little time with his daughter to help her track down a missing diplomat.
The trail appears cold and every FBI resource turns up little more than vapor. But Reznick's instincts, honed after a lifetime of dealing with people with nefarious desires, uncover a lead.
But the object of interest "Hard Kill" marks the second in the J. But the object of interest looks as clean cut and nonthreatening as a nun.
He's a doctor. Even his house is free of anything incriminating. The rest of the FBI team don't see the point in pursuing it. Yet Resnick has a feeling.
Something isn't right. Turner provides his antagonists with complex motivations. He provides clues here and there concerning the why.
But he doesn't let on the true nature of the conspiracy until the very end of the novel. And it's good.
Meyerstein is frustrated at every turn but sticks to her plan of supporting Reznick. Like the first novel in the series, the action continues.
This one is slightly more cerebral as the evidence is even more scant and the trail seemingly cold.
Jul 28, James Georger rated it it was ok. Spoiler Alert Stop reading now This plot is a tease from start to finish The bad guy somehow disappears from the vehicle in the midst of a hundred mph chase.
Maybe in the next book, but I won't be there to read it. The author devotes a major portion of the book belaboring surveilance that produces nothing, and seemingly endless argument whether a The subject is indeed a bad guy, or B Spoiler Alert The author devotes a major portion of the book belaboring surveilance that produces nothing, and seemingly endless argument whether a The subject is indeed a bad guy, or B Resnick is an appropriate team member.
The multi-agency team comes off like Keystone Cops letting the subject slip away. Inter-agency turf tiffs are tossed in to impede obvious progress.
As in the first book promising revealers of key information get killed by unexplained forces. Throughout the book, the plot centers on some unknown world changing terrorist plot destined to happen in New York city.
Literally hours before the attack, our heros realize " hey! Enough said. Our Scottish author has mastered "Godamn".
He needs to work on " Gimme a break". Free on Kindle Unlimited May 16, Bruce McNair rated it it was amazing Shelves: thriller.
This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. The task is to help find a missing diplomat.
But there are very few leads as to what has happened to him. They follow one lead that eventually leads to a doctor at a Washington DC hospital.
After checking him out, the FBI is convinced he is not involved, but Reznick has other thoughts. After Reznick is threatened with being dumped from the investigation Jon Reznick, an ex-marine Delta force commando, is relaxing at home when he is requested to meet with FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein.
After Reznick is threatened with being dumped from the investigation several times, he makes a breakthrough that points to possible Islamist terrorist activity.
This is followed by long surveillance until they eventually learn that an event is about to happen. The action picks up at the end as they learn who is involved, the target, when and where.
I gave it 5 stars out of 5. Dec 30, Scott rated it liked it. Convoluted plotting, but not a bad overall read Enjoyed the first effort in the Reznick series, enjoyed this one a little less.
As with the first, very well written action sequences. The author does an excellent job of building suspense and painting a picture of the scene, while it is easy and enjoyable to track the moving parts.
But dialogue is just not keeping up with the action. Also felt like there is less character development this time around.
And the plotting and motivations vary from dizzying to downright silly at times. Not in a hurry to get to the next book in the series, but I imagine that the action scenes will be enough to bring me around after I have exhausted several other reading options first.
